Production
The requirements for the injection moulding process are defined by the plating technology. The specifications already need to be considered during the engineering of the part and the tool making process. With the timely communication between all departments solutions can be realized that fill our motto SURFACE MEETS FASCINATION authentically with life.
Engineering & tooling
At BIA components are designed or re-designed according to the requirements defined by the plating process on modern CATIA V5 systems. The designs are brought to life together with toolmakers that are experienced with plated parts.
Injection moulding
BIA produces on a variety of injection moulding machines from 35 t to 650 t clamp force. New multiple-shot-machines produce parts that can selectively be plated and thus allow for effects such as illumination of selected areas.
Automated Lacquering
There are parts where it makes sense to keep certain areas free of chrome by lacquering them instead of using the multiple shot technology. Where this is done manually a lot of labour is involved. Provided that quantities are large enough, BIA automates the process for the part in question so that it can be integrated in the cycle of the injection moulding process.
Lasering in-house
With a lasering process that was patented for BIA complex and filigree symbols can be applied on plated plastic parts. The plating process is interrupted after chemical nickel. Then the chemical nickel layer is taken off in the shape of the symbols by the lasering process. Then the plating process is completed and the lasered area does not get affected. It remains chromeless. Where wanted, the symbols can be illuminated.
Plating
No matter whether matt-, polished or black chrome, Alu-Look, mattnickel or many other surfaces BIA stands for quality and innovation. It is no coincidence that many surfaces that can be found in the automotive world are designed and made by BIA.
Automated Assembly
BIA has developed Know-How when it comes to automated assembly-processes. BIA offers individual solutions for a cots-effective assembly. For the new Mercedes-Benz E-class the lower bars for the front and rear doors are automatically fit with 7 clamps each. In another appliance chromed parts are automatically glued to a lacquered part.
Assembly & final control
Motivated and qualified staff, outstanding lighting conditions, well equipped work stations as well as consequent quality management assure the customer that BIA delivers best quality only.
